Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Checking guests in and helping their needs by ensuring their rooms are allocated correctly. All guests are asked if they would like to book a table or upgrade their meals. Also aiding the other team members by providing help and training if needed and doing administrative duties such as checking paperwork etc
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy meeting others on the apprenticeship and expanding my knowledge of my role as well as having the ability to expand my experiences in other departments. It has been good to explore other areas of hospitality and other functions and resources used in other hotel chains from whitbreads premier inn

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt a lot more about the overall area of hospitality while developing and thinking about my own role. For my off the job learning I learnt a bit more about house keeping and the maintenance roles as well as learning more skills linked to my current role on reception

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programe was very well structured. It was clear what work needed to be done in each category and area of the programme.
My tutor was very easy to contact as was my examiner and the general process was very easy.
The only bump I had was doing the test but this eventually got sorted.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was very helpful, offering me the correct shifts needed to complete my work and offer me the off the job work needed to get my hours up. The other all support emotionally has been fantastic too. Creating a group for us to ask questions and help each other.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider was absolutely amazing. She was always at hand to answer any questions even if it was out of office hours and she explained the whole process to me so it was clear and I knew what to expect from each stage of the programme and the end point assessment
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it helps me perform better in my role because it has caused me to learn more not just about my own role but also other roles which means I can aid my team and aid my guests better. It also will help if I move to another location within the industry
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are not many extra curricular activities at my work however there are a lot of work outs and hobbies that can be utlized when we are raising money for GOSH which is our sister charity. I have done walking before but other teams have done 24 hour gaming and leg squats

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe it is a good place to work with lots of perks the main one being the ability to expand knowledge by inter departmental training and this apprenticeship. The teams are also usually very good and supportive. You get benefits with vouchers on our perks at work site too
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Take things slowly and don't worry so much about making sure you follow the monthly order that's on aptem because it doesn't need to be done linier. Also to ensure that you are thinking about what off the job hours you can do. And don't feel scared to reach out to others.
