I am a front of house receptionist at the Skegness seafront premier inn site. I deal with all guest interactions including checking in, queries, reservations and complaints. I also assist in the upkeep of the hotel public areas and aid the guest journey to be as enjoyable as possible for them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i am thoroughly enjoying the programme i have been placed upon to work alongside my job at premier inn. it has allowed me to develop existing skills and learn new ones, and to push myself to aim for higher progression within the company itself and i am looking forward to using the programme as a platfrom to assist in this.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

within both my job and the apprenticeship i have undertaken i have further developed and honed my customer facing skills and problem solving. I use skills developed so far in my professional life to the best of my capabilities but am learning new ways to utilize them and new methods entirely.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

i am finding the structure of the programme understandable and easy to follow. i do however feel that some of the breakdown is confusing and that the insistence on calling any additional training i receive at work as 'off the job' is ridiculous, considering it must all be completed whilst on the job.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

my employer has been extremely supportive of my choice to enroll. helping with the process and providing all the time and everything else i need to ensure my success upon the programme. they have also provided me with numerous 'off the job' opportunities to ensure that i learn as progress as much as i can at all times.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i receive more than adequate support from the training provider to aid me work towards the final qualification. this includes all the resources available online at all times as well as the interactions i have both face to face and through teams with my training coach who is available to assist in any way required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the training i am on reinforces my knowledge of legislation and all forms of work i undertake within my job allowing me to always remain attentive of the laws and understand them whilst putting them into place. it is also strengthening my skill set and allowing me to focus in areas that will progress my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

we use yammer within the workplace to share and upload stories and such that all staff on yammer can also see and interact with. this allows the sharing of ideas and successes as well as gaining help when it is needed. we also undertake activities throughout the year to aid with fund raising for GOSH.

working with whitbread has shown me what it is like to work for a company that truly appreciates the work you do and their is correlation between how much effort you put in to the job and what you gain out of it. there is also great progression within the company at all times to allow for future prospects.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
always strive to push yourself as far as you can go. whitbread is a company that will support you in this, guide you and push you to achieve what you truly can. and all the time you will feel appreciated and valued by all those around you, both in company and by the guests you will be serving.
