Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Recently, I am employed as Stock and Systems Section Lead on a huge project that is a cooperation between Travis Perkins Plc and Benchmarx Kitchens & Joinery. When I started my apprenticeship I was employed as a Stock and Systems Administrator supporting the busiest operational shift at our Gowerton Road PDH in Northampton.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I think that I enjoyed it the most because my coaches have never been saying to me:
"That's enough". The programme is basically based on self-learning. It's easy to learn things that are way above the programme level. The other thing is the ongoing, full support of the coaches. They do really care about the students! The LEAP provides all the kinds of support you may need.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
To be honest, I joined the programme to learn new things, however, I've found out that I've been already involved in my past in the management changing processes and things that are parts of the programme. Therefore, I think that the apprenticeship programme was more like systemising and developing my existing knowledge and skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I've found the LEAP apprenticeship very well organised. There are people who always look after you whether you need help or not. Send you an invitation to webinars that may be beneficiary for your learnings within the programme. If you feel you struggle with anything your coach will appoint you to a lovely lady who is an expert in the field.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I've received very fair support from my employer. Obviously, I had to fulfil my professional responsibilities first and sometimes I had delays with my learning process, however, the support I've received can't be underrated. My LEAP trainer showed me a lot of support while I've been promoted to the new position and I sometimes had no time to catch up with the programme schedule.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
That is the part I've been looking for the most to complete. My coaches during the programme: My Training Providers have been absolutely marvellous as tutors. I think that a huge part of my success is these two lovely ladies! I can't speak highly enough about them!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel very lucky that during the programme I was proposed for promotion and worked with a project team to create a new management process when the thing that has been my responsibility within the project could be my apprenticeship project. I believe that the things I've been learning have made my project very successful from both perspectives:
business and programme.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are a lot of activities as such. Travis Perkins Plc and Benchmarx Kitchens & Joinery are great places to work and I can't underestimate the amount of this kind of activity available for the employees.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Travis Perkins plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a great place to work. I work here for a while so for me it's like a second home. I feel proud to be a part of the family and my relationships with my colleagues are more like relations with friends or family than the work associate.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins plc?
Apply for the job. It's a great place to work!
