Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I was an auditor within PwC, helping a team out and participating with the planning, execute and completion section of each audit. I worked mainly on two teams throughout my placement, with both teams coaching me to a high standard. In the mornings we would have meetings to catch up and then we would do the work all day
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed the programme, due to the work load not being too heavy in my first placement but enough so I could learn, also the social aspect of the office and also the flying start programme made it really enjoyable. We would go out for flying start meals and also other office socials

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills since being on placement, such as basic auditing skills and excel skills. I came into placement not knowing much about either and come out feeling a lot more confident in both areas. I also feel confident in testing certain areas of an audit

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The course is very structured and well organised, we had a wellbeing catch up half way through placement, which was good. I would however say at the start of the programme when we first go into the office there should be a tour and like a get to know the office
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We receive a lot of support, both in coaching and also with other things, for example financial we have been getting a cost of living bonus each month and also have access to pwc shopping portal which gives us money off or cash back on certain brands. We also have a career coach
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Newcastle uni give us a lot of support towards working towards my qualification as they teach me all i need to know to pass my exams and also give me support if or when i need it. Our lecturers are really good and helpful if we have any questions or worries
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification that Newcastle Uni is providing is helping me to perform better whilst working for PwC as we did an auditing exam before we came on placement so we had some prior knowledge to what we were expecting and also the financial module has also helped with accruals and prepayments
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
At the start of placement we had a flying start introductory event with the whole office so they could get to know us, we have also had a couple AWM socials which have been really good with networking, I have also attended the town hall and international womens day events

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC is a really good company to work for with a lot of opportunities with in the company to move to a different type of client and also to advance, they look after their employees with free coffee and fruit and also with the cost of living bonus and pwc shopping portal. I also feel like i have learnt a lot in a little time
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
You have to be prepared to work hard and long hours but you should get the rewards from doing so, i would keep up to date with the financial news locally and globally to help within the job. I would also learn some excel knowledge as you will be using this alot
