Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a supervisor my role is different every shift, some days I either manage a stock section (grocery, chilled, frozen) manage online deliveries or do the home delivery driving. When on stock (my main job) I have to make sure adjustments are done correctly, search for any stock that is in the back area and also make sure my section is looking tidy
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme just felt a bit pointless to me, I only done it because I was told I had to in order to get my pay rise again (I demoted to move stores) I did enjoy seeing my tutor as she was very helpful and lovely but I didn't really see the point of doing it it hasn't helped me out

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I haven't really learnt anything new from my apprenticeship I am still doing the exact same job role and the same stuff in store except I have been driving the van more. It did however remind me of skills I didn't know were useful for my job role and also refreshed my brain of things I learnt at uni

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme was very poorly organised at first I didn't have a meeting with my first tutor at all I kept getting told I would have a phone call and never did. Then my new tutor started and was really well organised after that and I enjoyed learning in my sessions
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I didn't really get any support from my employer with the apprenticeship I was just left to myself to deal with the sessions and communicate with my tutor. I found my own research for my project without any help from anyone in the store or from any upper management
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My first training provider didn't provide much help at all she was in charge of my exam on the day and didn't even call me to start the exam I had to call someone for help! My second tutor Jacqui was extremely helpful and supportive she would always give great advice and feedback to help me get the best grade I could get
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I completed my apprenticeship probably around six months ago and it has not helped me whatsoever with performing better in my job role. I am still doing the exact same thing on the same pay so it just feels like a pointless qualification to have I only done it to get signed off as I was demoted to move stores
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There are no extra curricular activities or social events to get involved in that I am aware of . I have been with the company nearly 8 years and I have not heard of anything except for charity week where some stores may compete against eachother in a football game to raise money for charity

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It may not be the best paid supermarket to work for anymore but I haven't really had many problems over the years in any of the stores I have worked in. My job role can be stressful but I enjoy coming to work and couldn't really imagine working anywhere else
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
I would advise people applying that retail is not an easy sector to work in, they need to be prepared to put a lot of effort into their shift you are not just sat on a till you have so many things to do and there is plenty of training available to help with wanting to further your career
