My role includes, shadowing colleagues within my department, learning how they take on certain tasks and role specific jobs, independently researching fundemental parts of the department I am working in and offering help to colleagues around me in work they are undertaking.
Whilst my role is mainly to focus upon my department, when time allows I complete university assignments alongside my work.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover. I find the mix of work and university very appealing, it allows me to work on theory whilst also putting theory into practical use in the workplace, which you cannot get whilst just attending university.
My department I am working in has invovled me greatly in their projects which I am throughly invested in.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have already learnt multiple skills including:
- CAD (computer aided design) and understanding the CAD interface used by JLR
- Testing softwares used by JLR for quality managment and general testing
- Key engineering concepts at university including thermodynamics, material selection and process management
-Team involvement; learning how to speak and present effectivley within a team

How well organised/structured is your programme?

University and work have great cohesion with all managers understanding the commitment outside of the workplace towards our degree studies. Although not all apprentices have had the same experience as me with time given to focus on university and workload within the workplace, I feel as if they understand the scheme and how we need time to prioritise both.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support can depend between which department you are placed in. Some apprentice may find they are given more support whilst others not given a lot of support. What is consistent however, is involvement in the team. If you put yourself forward to be involved, you will be involved and will be given work to complete.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Warwick university has given a lot of structure to the apprenticeship. Reviews are put in place which help bring you and your workplace manager up to check on how your progressing, ironing out any problems you may of faced with university work and work adherining to key behaviours the apprenticeship requires you to meet.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Although I have not found many links yet with work at university and my workplace, I can understand that the theory behind a lot of the university modules are there to support our understanding of processes within the workplace. At the moment its not very evident but the key knowledge you do learn at university can be applied to engineering as a whole which is very valueable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Both Warwick university and Jaguar land rover hold events, socials, social clubs and meetings that will interest a variety of people. Personally I haven't had time or comittment to take part in these but I am aware that they are available. Work outings are very popular as well which is a nice addition, such as christmas parties.

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Intresting and mentally stimulating place to work. The buildings, employees and work style gets you motivated and intruiged which is very important to me, I would definitley recommend Jaguar Land Rover to someone else who is intrested in engineering, espcially cars. With how the workplace is set out as well, its refreshing and not cramped.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Be confident, understand the company, their history, unique selling points, product portfolio. The more you know the better when it comes to the interview. Try not to stress and be yourself, they are hiring you afterall, have an understanding about why a degree apprenticeship is useful and worthwhile. It's also a bonus if you are intrested in cars, that would help.
