Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves managing the receptionists that work within my organisation, and also supporting the Facilities Manager in the daily running of both our headquarters, and our alternative site. My job is primarily administrative, however there are some physical elements in regard to Facilities. I have heavy involvement with both internal and external stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme a lot, I find it very informative, and I'm given the opportunity to complete the workload at my own pace. I have also received a huge amount of support from my tutor, who has been so informative and encouraging throughout the entirety of my course.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned a lot of new management skills during my apprenticeship, and am working to integrate these into the daily management of my team. For example, I have learned a lot of new conflict management techniques, that I have started to apply when managing conflict within my team, and with external partners.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I feel my programme is very well structured, but also allows me a lot of flexibility to choose which tasks I complete and how long I take to complete them. There are a lot of useful materials provided, covering a range of topics, in order for me to successfully complete my assignments and tasks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my supplier, and they are very keen to support my ongoing professional development. I am about to transition to a new role within my organisation, and they again are incredibly supportive of my studying. My current line manager gives me as much support and flexibility as I need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive so much support from my training provider, especially from my tutor. I frequently have to speak with her regarding queries, issues completing assignments, lack of time, et cetera, and she always works with me to find a solution that works for both my qualification, and for my role.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have learned so much already from my qualification, and feel it has helped boost my job performance immensely. I have learned a lot of new and very useful management techniques, and am aspiring to apply these to the day to day management of my team. I have also learned a lot of skills for personal development.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are not many opportunities for me to get involved in many extra curricular activities, however I am actively involved as a Directorate representative in our staff council, and I am also a founding member of our organisational LGBTQ+ network. I feel being able to parttake in these activities has boosted my confidence within my role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I'm not sure whether or not this question addresses my workplace, or the company I am doing my qualification through, however I will address my qualification provider. This is the second apprenticeship I have completed through this company, and I find their service incredibly efficient. They have always worked with me in order to obtain the best results.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
I would advise people to go in with an open mind. There is so much to learn if you're willing to!
