Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
General design engineering activities, working on both new programme components and also future technologies
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My programme is very enjoyable, through the empowerment I am given to make a real impact on development activities and the overall progression of the project

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned all skills required to contribute to the design and development of an automotive vehicle within the body engineering department

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Within the engineering department, I have an excellent placement programme and development plan. At university, I have a good team around me helping with coursework. Regarding general apprenticeship activities, there is also a dedicated team helping me to complete those tasks also.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My employer takes a great amount of care to both give me fulfilling and appropriate tasks but also consider the workloads I have outside of my jobrole, by giving me dedicated time away from work to complete other activites.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I di not spend a great amount of time at university so I do not have very much contact with them, but I am confident that I would be given the help I need should I reach out and ask for it.
May they could be more proactive however.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I do not believe that university helps with my jobrole. I learn more applicable and interesting topics through work. If anything, my jobrole helps more with my degree, with most coursework asking for applications from my workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I can be both involved with the usual business extra curricular activities but also can take part in activities involved with the early careers network, which is very large at JLR. This involves activity days, dinner events and sports

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a great company to work for, with healthy work relationships, fulfilling work and it's a great course to nurture future engineering skills to be a useful part of the team
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
JLR care most about your work ethic, attitude towards personal development and your enthusiasm for the industry and your work. Do not worry too much about academic achievement as that is less applicable to the workplace regardless.
