Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Analysing risk factors, admin and internal communications. My day to day activities include managing my diary and scheduling calls, training and meetings to suit all individua's involved. I work on assessing the risk factors presented by clients and present findings to the engagement team which are leading the work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy working in PwC whilst learning in Ulster University. It combines two ways of life whilst effectively merging both as a positive balance. I enjoy my degree with Ulster University and I find that the module content relates to my role in PwC. My team and the entire network of PwC are supportive in my journey with Ulster University. I believe that the apprenticeship role enables an individual for the hands on business experience whilst studying the material for their degree.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Within my job role I have had access to unlimited training using our internal systems. Within my role itself, I have furthered my communication skills, both with my peers and also to management level. This has enabled me to communicate clearly and concisely whilst enhancing my listening skills, which is necessary for a positive and effective communication. Time management is a skill which I have developed greatly within my role. Teamwork and using my own initiative is a pamount skill for my role which has been developed quickly.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is structured well, although their was bumps in the road during the onset of this programme - PwC worked well with each member of staff to make this programme as effective as possible. There us a well structured balance between workload and university load. Assignments are scheduled well to balance the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was new to this route and I feel that I was immensely supported by all the staff. There is an open line of communication between myself, the company and the university with meetings scheduled for all 3 parties to communicate where more support is required or beneficial. The support received from the company has helped guide me along my journey so far.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My journey with the training provider (Ulster University) - has been hugely effective. I feel that the lectures provide me with support and a listening ear when it is needed. The lectures take a keen interest in our roles inside and outside of our programme. They support us in any way they can in achieving our potential. They take into consideration the workload we are also facing in our day to day role.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that the course content which is being received by Ulster University is wide in its content and all content can be linked to my role. Whether this be from communicating with stakeholders and internal staff to project management. My qualification has given me the ability to view work information differently, from a different perspective.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Within PwC, the social aspect is hugely important and can be seen within the office on the daily. Whether this be, social activities for team building such as dinner, bowling etc, social activities are also organised for the entire office on a monthly basis. Most importantly, we are involved in charity fundraising very often within the business. There are also groups which each member of staff can join.

Why?
PwC is a leading firm worldwide, the opportunities and support received from the employer is immeasurable. I am supported within my internal role and also within my degree journey with Ulster University. The company takes a keen interest and listens to the views and opinions from their staff on a regular business, this makes each employee feel valued.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Be yourself!! It is easy to get overwhelmed when applying to PwC, leading individuals to believe they need to present an untrue representation of themselves. This could not be further from the truth - PwC are looking for individuals from all backgrounds and abilities. Personality is massively important, don't come across scripted, but do look into the company credentials.
