Image Processing Summer Placement Review

Undertook research surrounding a given cutting-edge topic within the Image Processing department.
I was given a lot of free-reign regarding the direction I wanted to take the research but was given guidance when I needed it.
This role involved lots of work in an office environment and attending meetings run by colleagues.

I was allowed a lot of freedom when it came to the methods I would use to meet a specific problem, especially as this problem was new to the people already working there as well.
Despite being of course expected to present my findings, the methodology I used was often my own decision and my supervisors helped optimise whatever decisions I made.

Developed my interpersonal and Python skills, and especially learned a lot about emerging technologies in this sector.

I had weekly meetings with my line manager to check on my progress and could ask questions whenever I needed to.

There was plenty of opportunity to socialise with my colleagues during lunch hours and after work. During my time I participated in extra-curricular office activities, e.g. sweepstakes. The company itself is also heavily involved in charity efforts.

I very much enjoyed my placement and value the time and work I spent at the company.
