My job role involves designing and selling kitchens to customers here at Howdens. I also have targets to hit every month.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have really enjoyed the last year and hope to be kept on to continue developing my design and sales skills.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed skills in conversing with customers as well as skills using a computer such as the CAD or our k8 sales software. I have also learnt a lot about customer service.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I enjoyed the structure of my apprenticeship, every month [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] sets me tasks and course work to complete as well as on the job training with Howdens itself.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer and the other staff members that work within our depot in Alnwick. Whether that be just to help with product knowledge or to do with the design and sale of the products that we offer to the customer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

At the start I had a different assessor who wasn't the best but now my new assessor makes sure to review all my work and give me feedback on what ways I can improve what I have already done as well as tell me what im also doing right.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me reflect on the work I have previously done and allows me to see what ways I can improve what new skills I have learnt.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We don't have anything on a regular basis but we all talk with each other and ever 6 months we normally have a staff night our that involves activities and food to enjoy with each other.

Would you recommend Howdens to a friend?

Why?
It has been great in developing my character as well as me and a person and the skills I have to use while working and outside of work at the same time. The people here are also a great team that can pull together and help each other hit the monthly targets required.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Howdens?
The advice I would give is be yourself and just try to put in your all into whatever it is you'd like to work at. I had no idea what i was walking into including how to even use a computer in basic way such as email, as long as your open to learning you'll do well.
