Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I start the day with a meeting to discuss what I did the previous day with the team, from here I begin developing software, this could be creating a script to maintain our data or building in some new functionality
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love it, it’s amazing to see how the work you’re doing has an impact in the real world, it adds a lot of purpose
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes! I’ve learnt about SQL but also how production systems work, and the challenges which come at operating a scale. Its super interesting to see how these systems work behind the scenes
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

So far I've found that the work I'm doing in University sits in quite well with the rotations I have been doing in my day to day role, because of this I've been able to hit the ground running with every rotation, its been amazing
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get a really generous amount of study leave, so I can take time away from work to focus on university, but also I'm able to learn from people who are experts in their field, and both me and others on my team are allowed time for training
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I get as much support as a typical university student, my tutors always have an open door policy but also take into consideration your personal circumstances, so if I'm ill and can't submit an assessment they'll support me through this
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

A lot, they seem to have psychic abilities to know what I'll be doing at work the next month! Its been really handy to learn from them the best practices to apply
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are loads, just a few weeks ago I was attending an event with my company for national apprenticeship week, but we also have a rugby team and all the apprentices I live locally to meet regularly

Why?
Capgemini seems to get apprenticeships, they understand what to expect of an apprentice and the best ways in which to support an apprentice.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
Capgemini isn't looking for the finished product when you apply as an apprentice, they're not going to expect you to be an expert in DevOps from year one. What they want to see though is your willingness to learn
