Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a duty manager you run the team and the building. Ensure that guests are looked after and meet their needs. Team training ensure that the team are giving the best service. Health and safety. Compliance to ensure that critical controls are met. Checking guests in. Serving food and drink.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning new things. But also developing skills that I already had. I will have to look into depth more of something I don't understand then I will develop my own techniques. I think the progeamme is really good but sometimes I can get bored because it's learning what I already knew.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I am building day to day. I had never worked in hospitality before but knew it was a passion. I have increased my knowledge of how to be a leader, learnt more of the in and out of the sector. Learning depth compliance and safety. How to train the team effectively and how to coach.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

To begin with it wasn't. There was alot of confusion and no structure. but with time and support this is alot better. I understand what I need to do. I plan ahead it's easy accessible to find out more. It's becoming more organised with support and helping myself.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Employer is great. I can ask questions and schedule in time if I'm struggling. They will find out information for me and go through it or direct me to the places to find the info and I will solo work to help myself. Managers and team are very supportive with it all
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

To begin with wasn't great but there was factors of things changing and new systems but now it is amazing. I can reach out at any time. And they will respond. They have put me on courses to help and caught up after to ensure I understand what I have learnt.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I learn different way and techniques to what I'm learning. Some of it I already know but that doesn't matter because I can't find a different way and actually find it's better. It makes me more confident as I feel I know what I'm talking about.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Very good company treat you as a person as opposed to a number. They are all up for progression and will push you and support you in that. But on the other side if you just want a job that pays and you go home they support that too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Just be yourself. Show interest and work hard. Dont think you have to push yourself too hard because they recognise everything. You become part of the team.
