Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to deliver projects around site, weather that is maintenance, refurbishment, etc. This involves having required knowledge of H&S and a good understanding of engineering terminology
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot. The people here are welcoming and knowledgeable. The work/life balance is amazing and the benefits here are also really good.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned more about H&S. There are different regulations for various activities that you need to learn, understand and comply with. Moreover, I have been developing my communication skills as well as becoming more confident.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the start it was a rocky ride, there was no structure and not really nothing for me to do. This was because I was the first apprentice of my kind. After about a month it got better.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is very supportive especially around university work and assignments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot. For example, if I need a lower workload due to an upcoming exam, they are very understanding.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification that I will be obtaining intertwines with my job role. It better develops my knowledge for engineering and provides theory
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are various different networks, such as multi-faith network, LGBTQ+, etc. There are sporting activities to get involved in such as a raft race every year as well as charity events for water aid.

Good place to work, excellent work/life balance. Always room for progression and to climb the ranks. People here are very welcoming, nice and friendly.
