To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy it - it is a big company which means you get to meet lots of different people who all have different lessons to teach you.
The company also has a variety of clients from different industries which means that no two days on the job are ever the same.
The company culture is really emphasised - leadership really take into consideration the wellbeing of their staff.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Development is a big thing at PwC. As such I've been able to develop my communication, project management, leadership, networking, technical skills and many more.
PwC has lots of training courses to offer and they give you the flexibility to complete these around your day to day commitments. When you're not on a project, they also allow you to spend your time completing these to enhance your development areas.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The induction is very well structured and is really informative - at times it can feel like information overload but it is great to look back on once you're more settled.
My team specifically aren't as structured with the placement experience - they have allowed me to tailor my experience to suit my interests and areas I want to develop my skills in, so I have found this lack of structure really beneficial.
I have regular support meetings with my career coach and mentor which has helped me organise my placement in a way that suits me.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My team's management are extremely supportive - I feel confident to go to them with any issues or concerns, and they always help find a solution.
There is a great HR team in PwC who are always available to help.
I also have a mentor who has been great in helping me devise a career path and developing my professional skills.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Whilst I'm not studying towards any formal qualifications, my team has put me through a lot of training to help me develop. They have regularly offered their support for me to ask questions if I'm unsure on any of my training learnings and have allowed me to work on projects which enable me to put my learnings into practice.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Whilst I'm not completing a formal qualification, I feel that my placement and the tasks I have been completing during it have set me up very well to perform in my role. Any training I have completed has been really relevant to the day to day job and has allowed me to perform better. PwC does a great job of teaching you theories whilst giving examples to allow you to really understand what you're learning. PwC works with a huge variety of clients so I've built up a really good foundational knowledge of business in general.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a huge amount of stuff to get involved in at PwC. The Belfast office has a dedicated wellbeing space which offers exercise classes, meditation sessions, seminars from external speakers etc. There is also a huge variety of People Networks at PwC such as the Gender Balance Network and religious networks - there is something for everyone.

Why?
The culture is amazing - they really care about their people and do everything they can to make sure you're happy. This includes allowing you to take opportunities to move around the business, whether this be short or long term, to suit your interests. There are many locations to choose from and so many different teams that there would be something to suit a lot of career interests.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Be yourself - PwC really values people who bring their whole personalities to work, rather than just trying to be professional and monotone all the time. Make sure to put the effort and time into your application as it can be obvious when you don't. Attend PwC's recruitment events, eg the virtual park days, as these are really beneficial in helping you get an understanding of the company. Research a lot as this will come up in your interview - the PwC website and articles are great for this.
