Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am on a rotational program here at Visa so obviously your day to day will depend on your team. At the moment i am working in a cybersecurity team (Governance, Risk and compliance). I am learning a lot about 3rd party relationships and how we monitor those relationships to keep our network and company safe, as well I am in charge of NBIA tracking for Europe so I communicate a lot with cyber teams to ensure assessments are on track etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it very much, I have been in two different teams since joining Visa and both have been amazing in working with me and making me feel welcome. The culture here at Visa is like no other, everyone here works very hard not because we feel we have to, we are in an environment where we WANT to.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am learning new coding languages like Python for my current degree module, software engineering, to design an interactive application. In the months I've been here I've learnt so much and would be here all day if i had to note down everything but learning about agile methodology when carrying out projects and how it can benefit a business so much was very interesting.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
very well structured. As an apprentice you are always given a heads up when you are changing teams, offices, or any major changes with plenty of time to prepare, making you feel a lot more comfortable. There is always a point of contact if any help or support is needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Here at Visa there is a whole Next Gen talent team that provides additional support throughout your whole course. They are amazing in helping you transition from teams and balance your study's with your work load. As an apprentice you are massively appreciated and not looked at any different.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We use QA limited as our training provider. They are very supportive in helping you prepare for your assessments and keeping you on track with deadlines. If i had any criticism it would be that I think they could be a bit better in the feedback the give, especially in DRAFT submissions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I was very lucky in that i was in a project management team whilst completing my IT project management module as they aligned perfectly and made the module a lot more enjoyable and essentially 'easier' for me. Some of the teachings, like cost management, I would be exposed to in my lecture would apply literally the next work day.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
UNLIMITED. As an employee here at VISA you are bombarded with out of office events and activities to promote networking and collaboration. Plenty of fitness is promoted even within the office like spin classes and yoga sessions. Especially as an apprentice your are encouraged to attend solely apprentice events to help meet new people.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The best apprenticeship program offered. Everyday you face new amazing opportunities and meet and interact with so many wise colleagues, and you are spoilt with benefits! You are surrounded by an amazing working culture 24/7.
There's no 'I have to go to work tomorrow' mentality its 'I get to go to work tomorrow!'.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
Don't apply to work here at Visa if you are not passionate about the businesses growth and worth. Come prepared and ready for interviews as the competition is fierce. Try and network with other colleagues and create relationships early (this will help you a lot!)
Be yourself, be hungry, be competitive.
