Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Assisting Relationship Manager with maintaining their relationship with customers in their portfolio. You will always find your self working with colleagues from other teams within the bank to complete tasks. You will always have admin work to do daily unless you are out seeing customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the program because it is challenging and I am very fortunate to be apart of a team that is supportive and are always willing to let me learn from them. The program is also enjoyable because I have a great learning and work - life routine.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have managed to develop my communication skills in terms of speaking to customers and listening. This is the most important skill because my job is a customer facing role but as an apprentice I can use this skill to network within the bank. Another skill I have been developing is my digital skills, I have had to learn how to use different bank programs/systems to get tasks completed.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is set out in a good way because you have a line manager & work coach (from the learning provider) are there to support you through out your journey as an apprentice. From day one you are told what to expect you get to ask question if unsure and during the first two weeks you will understand stand what the end goal is and how you can get there. I am also entitled to 20% of study time which is great because I can focus on my learning at work and not during my time at home. However if you want a distinction grade , extra work must be put in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have support from everyone I work with. Since joining the bank I can confidently say NatWest does care about its employees there are different support networks within the bank that can help individuals overcome their challenges. I know I can get support form the anyone in my team but also from the different resources the bank offer help, this ranges from financial wellbeing to mental wellbeing .
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I attend webinars weekly and I have a work coach I can ask questions or my line manager as my learning revolves around my role in the bank. The bank also offers interactive modules to help new joiners have a better understanding of what their role involves and ways how to use different programs/systems.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

You will realize after week three that everything you learn can be linked back to your job role and the more you learn and use the knowledge the more confident you will become in your role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The bank encourages its employees to volunteer 5 days a year which can be done during working hours. There are always socials for staff at least once a quarter be it social activities sports and even professional networking events. There is always something that will interest you as long as you are willing to give it a try.

Why?
I think NatWest is a place that embraces people from different backgrounds and allows them to grow and thrive in what ever area they want. I do not have a degree but I feel like I add value in the business and I always have the feeling I have accomplished something great when considering my job is to help customers achieve their business goals.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
The only tip I would give is to have a think of what it is that you enjoy. Try and find a role that matches that and just be yourself from there! This may sound weird at first but when you think about it being yourself when applying for the job gives you the better chances because the bank wants to bring in new ideas. In simpler terms think outside the box be prepared and ask questions.
