Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
The apprenticeship is split between training and placement. I've been very fortunate with my placement experiences so far and have been put on really interesting productions. The training however (All Spring Media) has been incredibly poor, with no communication between trainers and repetitive tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The BBC provides many unique and amazing opportunities that I am so grateful for. I get to work alongside some of the greatest people in the industry and learn firsthand.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I am completely new to this industry so every task given is a great teaching experience. The BBC is full of training courses and has so many experienced members of staff to learn from. Sadly the training from All Spring Media has been a let down though.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
There seems to be a real lack of communication between the heads of the apprenticeship and my placement managers, they never seem to know what the actual format of my apprenticeship is. All Spring Media is always all over the place, not providing our assignments, late feedback etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My managers are supportive and try their best to help me out, I just wish they had more of an idea of the actual format/what is expected from the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
All Spring Media has definitely been the worst part of my apprenticeship so far. The training has been very poor in quality, uncaptivating, repetitive, the trainers rarely communicate so we have to fill them in on what we've done, assignments are given to us late etc.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Not at all, everything I've learned so far has been on the job or through me teaching myself outwith the apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
The BBC often runs competitions which allow you to attend screenings etc, so that has been amazing. I would love the addition of sports teams and more socials.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
If you are placed on a good production you learn a lot and meet great people in the industry.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Say yes to everything, the company has loads of oppertunities and network as much as you can.
