3.4/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As this Apprenticeship involves us rotating department every 6 months, my role and responsibilities are always changing. I am currently working in the Innovation department where I am responsible for creating a knowledge management site for our team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Depending on what department you are allocated will have an impact on overall enjoyment. The part that i've maybe enjoyed most in this apprenticeship is developing friendships with the 9 other apprentices who are experiencing the same journey as me

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Definitely learnt and developed skills: project management, time management, meeting deadlines, being agile, using new systems, liaising with senior management and networking to name a few

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The initial on boarding process may start a little slow, but there is a set system of what is expected of us as apprentices in our work and studies.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I've been fortunate to have great managers and I have received a lot of support from each of them, they are aware that we are apprentices and that we are learning and have supported me in my journey
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We have a skills coach who acts as our first point of contact and support on the studying side which is really useful alongside access to Academic Learning team and support office. As i feel there is complications and ambiguity with the training provider, the support is useful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
At times what we are studying has directly related to my day to day work and has gievn me context to thing i didn't know before
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are networking events you can get involved in: reverse mentoring, watercooler, organised coffee chats with people youve not met before. No sports teams that i know of, but social activities for the apprentices and graduates happen a couple times a year

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Visa does have a really good culture where people are supportive and normally happy to help
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
The degree apprenticeship scheme is a great alternative for people like me who wanted to learn and earn at the same time. We get annual pay rises and bonuses to look forward too also!
