Womenswear design intern Review

My role consisted of being part of the women's design team. I would help with the research process of the season, looking at colour, trends, silhouettes, prints. Then helping the team in turning this research into designs and being involved in the presentation process. Would then help turn the designs into CADs and specs ready to send to the factories to receive samples and protos

I was, I was probably given even more than I originally anticipated which was great. I didnt feel like an intern, I fully felt like part of a team and valued just as much as other team members. I was given a real chance to design and try out new design skills that I hadn't yet learnt at university.

I learnt so much about how a company works, the ins and outs of all the parts of a business.
Design wise I massively developed my illustrator skills as well as my presentation skills. My confidence also really improved, I think this was due to the team helping and challenging me.

Lots of support, I was assigned a mentor and also had a manager of our team. We had regular 1-1's and check ins to discuss work, progress, ideas etc.

Great atmosphere, really fun and engaging place to work. It's exciting to work in the office nothing ever felt dull or mundane. Listening to wider company updates and company talks was always so interesting too.

I loved it, I thoroughly felt like part of a team. Even when covid struck the internship kept its same pace and momentum and I felt really engaged with what I was doing and where I was working. It did exceed my expectations, I now have a full time permanent role there.
