Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my first year my role is a store assistance. I work on the shop floor putting fresh stock out onto the shelves, working deliveries in the morning, providing the best customer service possible while on a till.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I think it’s an amazing program, the staff are wonderful, and the customer are a pleasure to assist, I only dislike the idea that I’m being paid £6 an hour, when everyone else gets paid £10 and above for doing the same job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Time management is very important in Aldi. My development in managing time has certainly improved since joining the company. Cash handling has always been easy for me due to my previous job.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The program is well organised. Each month I’ll sit down with my lifetime learning coach to take verbal exams on different topics that help me understand how Aldi runs.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Whenever I am ever unsure about anything I can speak with my employer happily, he has always willing to help and provide feedback so I’m always improving and learning from mistakes.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My learning coach has been wonderful. She keeps in touch frequently asking how I’m getting on. If I’m ever unsure about a topic she’ll call me to go through it to give me a clearer understanding.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Learning the different topics provided by my learning coach has given me a clearer understand to how Aldi works and what entails behind the scenes such as different types of customers and the range of technology we use.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes! Aldi recently hosted five a side football against different stores in the region. In the month of June there is an activity to try and get the most Miles in a month by exercising.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Aldi isn’t a typical 9-5 job, it’s a lot of hard work but you get to meet some really interesting people at the till as well as learning new skills that can be embraced in day to day life.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Check out an Aldi store for yourself. Staff are fast paced in everything they do, is this the kind of store for you?
