Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working in a NHS foubdation trust as aprrentice healthcare scientist. My role involves clinical working fulltime within a cardiology department doing cardiac diagnotics.
Attending uni one day per week for lectures on various subjects and working through modules completing assignments and exams in clinical and professional units,
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy learning new skills within my clinical environment

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I learnt new skills within the cardiac catheter labs

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
I feel my programme is stuctered more towards the full time students, in the amount of uni work given. Working fulltime makes it extremly difficult to complete units on time due to work commitments, I also feel the end point assessment is unfair and unnecesary. The full time students do the same work as apprectices do, however the additional module is needed for apprentices to pass
I feel more clinical training to your area of practice would be more beneficial instead of professional practice as most apprentices have a lot of healthcare experience to begin with.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very supportive
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My uni mentor for my end of year project has been extremly supportive and the unit leader for the apprenticeship. Clinical providers have been supportive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I already had a foundation degree in healthcare science, so do not feel this qualification has helped me perform any differently. My role has not changed significantly. However the specialsist studies have helped develop my knowledge and skills
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No
