Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Tasks: Clearing Stills, Booking travel, contacting suppliers, eligibility to work checks, paying contributors
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy when we are on study and I can work with others on my programme but I've had mixed experiences in the actual workplace

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've learnt how images are cleared, how contributors are payed and the types of content created for child campaigns. I've also learnt a lot of other things that doesn't apply to my role

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
As we are the first cohort, there has been some teething issues. Personally I would spread the academic side of things further though the programme, rather than front loading the training.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Great support from Scheme leader and PMA who 'looks after me' when I'm on placement. I have Mixed opinions when it comes to other lead figures. Disability support has been great so far
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Depending on the tutor it can be either great or not so. A few tutors have gone the extra mile and some were not approachable for support. Sometimes there is confusion regarding our final qualification/exam
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Not all the stuff we cover is applicable to my role as much of the work is tailored towards those in television placements. Not everything we do seems relevant but the big group work/hands on tasks are brilliant
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good way to get your foot in the door but I wouldn't recommend it for staying and developing your career in the long run as it it quite dated in some aspects
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be yourself. Don't worry about experience/age. Dont feel like you have to share its views all the time. Choose your genre carefully - look into what's made at your chosen location and think about what programmes/content you could end up on
