Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Day to day activities involve preparing workbooks, rolling them forward from prior year. I will engage with the client and set up requests for any supporting documentation that we may need. I work closely with seniors on the jobs and partake in any tasks that will help the audit to be completed in a timely and high quality way
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the flexibility that the job gives me. Hybrid working is something that works really well for me. I would just say that my overall satisfaction depends very much on what client I am working on. Some are just more interesting/ more time consuming/ overall jst more enjoyable to work on than others.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my confidence massively when I have to hold calls with clients to help understand their processes. I also understand much more now that it's okay to not know the answer to everything and asking as many questions as needed will be the best way to learn things and it doesn't show a sign that you may not know what you're talking about

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I like that we have a lot of dates in our calendar way in advance for things such as college, performance reviews, and other deadlines that we need to meet. As there is quite a few deadlines and dates for which things need to be completed, advanced notice is really appreciated. I enjoy the ratio of work to college as well. Only comment is I wish we had longer in between going to college and then sitting the exam.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have felt very supported from my employer. When I had to do a re sit my councilor sat down with me a couple of days later and we went through an action plan to pass next time around. Managers understood boundaries and allowed me to finish work on time in order for me to revise properly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I feel this is dependent on the tutor. Some really emphasize that you can contact them after lessons/ once the course is complete. This is really helpful. When I had to complete my re sit there was an additional revision session put on which again was really useful and helped me pass next time around.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification helps me to gain a better understand of why we do things in my role at work. When I understand the bigger picture it allows me to complete the task at a better quality. I think this will be even more relevant with the more exams that we complete.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I aim to attend an office social at least once a month. We regularly have month end drinks. I am participating in a CSR pub quiz this week to raise money for our office's local charity. I am also aware of a walking club that has recently started in my office and I will be keen to find out more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EY is a reputable company and I have felt extremely supported throughout my entire journey here thus far, despite the company being so big. The job offers flexibility with work location and I feel this is really important in working in the modern world. You also are well equipped with laptops, monitors and other wfh things so that you can complete your work at a high standard and efficiently.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
I would advise people to be really curious learners and always look at ways in which you may have been able to do things differently next time. Get involved in lots of social activities and make best use of the EY badges and other EY training on offer so you can be the best version of yourself.
