Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Project Management Apprentice, my role differs depending on the placement I am in at that current time. But for the most part I will be involved in at least one project that is specific to the current placement, learning how the department differs from others. Alongside this, it is also in my role to keep on top of my university work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I would say I enjoy my programme, like anything there are pros and cons, but for the most part the pros outweigh the cons. One of the most enjoyable things is being on a placement rotation, allowing the opportunity to experience a variety of working environments allowing growth as an apprentice. I also enjoy working with fellow apprentices

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Whilst only on my second placement I have learnt many transferrable skills since I started especially recently. I have learnt skills that are not only specific for the department I am working it but can also be adapted to be used in future placements. I am looking forward to new skills I will continue to learn.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The organisation for programme I am on could improve. It is understandable people are very busy. Meetings that we find very beneficial don't always take place when they're supposed to, however, when they do happen they are informative and useful. Sometimes things can be delivered to us slightly last minute but they are always given.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Support is greatly given when needed. Anytime I have needed it, I feel I have been strongly supported by my managers who have done what they can to help and change situations where needed. I have felt scenarios I have needed support they have been swiftly dealt with. My only desire would be to have more frequent check-ins with our managers so we can discuss things frequently.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I feel greatly supported by my workplace when it comes to my degree. And I also do from my Tripartite advisor, who will always go out of her way to help, however, I feel some of the lecturers aren't always supported it and it depends on which one is teaching you, it is not consistent throughout.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel it helps me to improve my performance when I am learning about things relevant to my workplace. Project management isn't always black and white so not everything is used. It helps me to grasp an understanding of tasks before I actually have to do them which is very beneficial.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many extra activities that you can get involved in with the BBC and I have found it is very easy to meet people and then from them meet even more. There are many activities to get involved in however, you aren't pressured to, it is always a choice. Especially between the other apprentices there has been opportunities to meet each other.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend as it is a great place to work but to also start a career, gaining experiences that you wouldn't be able to in other companies, especially smaller ones. Being able to move between departments is an excellent learning opportunity to develop not only your career but your skillset.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
A tip I would give to anyone replying would be just to be yourself, the BBC is a very accepting company and would rather people be authentic than pretend to be someone else. Ask any questions you may have as no one will look down on a question and will always be willing to answer where possible.
