Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My daily tasks involve all sorts, including team meetings, code pairing, querying data, creating machine learning models, and overall just learning from other members of the team and improving my knowledge and skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I love where I work and what I do. My team is super helpful and friendly which makes life a lot easier, and I get to be challenged and work on new things most days.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've learn lots of new skills, including python, general programming, machine learning, SQL, statistics, and also lots of soft skills such as communication and teamwork.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is relatively well structured. I always know if I should be studying or working as there are specific blocks for these. I am not always sure of which task to be working on as there is not always something put aside for me to work on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager and general team are super supportive. I do not have a "mentor" but if I need any help I can reach out to anyone on the team and I know they will respond and do their best to support me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
If I need help from my training provider I can usually get it, depending on the subject. Some lecturers/tutors are not supportive and can be a bit cold, but some others want you to do your best. I don't usually feel comfortable asking for help here.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I learn things in University sometimes that is useful for my apprenticeship and I get to apply this when I work, but at least 50% of what I learn has never been applied inside my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
My work have some clubs they run, I am not too sure what these are but I know they exist. I get opportunities to go out and socialise within my team but this is usually organised by our team themselves.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I enjoy working within my team and I believe this kind of opportunity is a really good way to get your foot in the door, whilst also being able to get a degree.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be honest and authentic during the interview process. This is a friendly place to work and the interviewers are really checking to see if you'd fit in within the team. Being yourself is your best shot at showing you'd be an asset here.
