Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic - my main roles and responsibilities are wound care for post op wounds, traumatic wounds and diabetic ulcers, removing sutures, giving advice to patients regarding their treatment and wound care, removing plaster casts, fitting different types of braces, boots and supports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoyed it - getting the work : study : life balance was quite difficult at times, but definitely worth it. I have dyslexia, so did struggle with some academic aspects but was well supported by peers, my manager and oxford brookes

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have gained so much more knowledge. My new skills include: Phlebotomy, ECG, blood sugar monitoring, injections and using safe medicate to give drugs to partients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

As we were the first cohort to do the course, sometimes it felt confusing as to what we needed to be doing - but on the whole it was fine and structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was brilliant - very support and listened to my needs and concerns and helped in any way they could. My manager was very supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They would be available via email if we had any concerns or questions which was good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification has helped me massively at work - I am more confident, have more skills and knowledge, and enjoy my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Not regularly, but there are many team meet ups now and again
