Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the on boarding team where we onboard new funds. We set up custody accounts so that funds can invest in other countries. We deal with lots of adhocs so half the day is spent helping with queries regarding to funds that are already launched and want to make amendments
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my role as with time i am given more responsibilities.
The team i work in are really nice and are always there to answer any questions i might have.
There is a good balance between studying and working.
I believe it could be more challenging and that is why i haven't scored full marks

I think the main skill that i have developed over my apprenticeship is knowing how to work with people and how to tailor my approach based off who i am working with.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

In terms of the qualification we have regular meetings and coursework is spread out evenly across the year. This is very well structured and allows us to manage our work around our studying. There is enough content to cover without it being overwhelming and it if done regularly it is manageable
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have regular contact with my manager. When i first joined i had a call everyday with them to make sure i was settling in. I also had calls everyday for training so that i could learn as much as possible as quickly as possible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have regular calls from the training provider to make sure we are aware with what we need to do. If you have any queries you can send an email and will hear back very quickly. They will also arrange to phone you if you require additional support. If you have any problems they are very good at solving them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The way the qualification works is that it helps highlight skills that you are developing at work. Because you have to write reflective statements it helps show how you are progressing at work. It can also help show where you are lacking and what areas you need to develop in
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We are invited to regular networking events. There are lots of different teams that you can be apart of. My team is quite social and will get together after work. There is also a sports and social committee that plan events once a month. So if you are keen to get involved there is lots to choose from

Why?
It is a good place to start a career as it helps develop lots of transferable skills. It has a very supportive atmosphere so you feel like you can ask a lot of questions without being judged.
It is a big company so can provide good opportunities to network and meet new people

Ask as many questions as possible
Try to meet as many people as possible
Network with other teams to understand their roles better and see if it as an area you would like to work in
Take advantage of all opportunities that come in including external events such as a course
