Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Providing support to my team in completing the audit work on the different significant financial areas of the client. Managing my workload and making sure I keep up to date with the work that I've been assigned.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Although the hours can be long sometimes I have learnt a lot in such a small space of time about this industry. The teams I have worked with are the best part of the job and I have always felt very welcomed. It meets my expectations of what I expected.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Developed skills such as communication and time management, as you have to communicate on a daily basis with the client and team. Also you must keep on top of the work you need to do as the team is relying on you to get your area of work done.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The studying and training to pass the ICAEW exams are well structured as they make sure you have enough time for college. However the amount of time of to study could be improved as I have found it difficult to manage both client work and exam revision at the same time. EY has a good structure for support as you have an individual councelor and apprenticeship coach.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I found the team I was working with very supporting throughout my time however the general company could improve in certain areas, as I feel as though if you did have a problem I wouldn't instantly know who to go to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider has good support in place even though the class is quite large. I would prefer if they maybe helped out on a more one to one basis sometimes, but I understand this wouldn't always make sense.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification through my training provider gives me the knowledge to then apply to my day to day work, meaning I can perform higher quality work. By having the understanding it means you can pick up on things that don't look right when you are carrying out your testing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Although EY does have sports teams and social activities from time to time, I feel as though they don't make this clear enough and definitely don't hold enough social events. Since joining the only time I have met another school leaver was due to me getting in touch with them, this could be greatly improved by holding more social events so new joiners can make friends and meet there intake.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EY is a good company to work for and they provide good support. Although during busy period you are working long hours, in the end the reward is that you have trained at a large firm and the constant pushing from teammates actually makes you much better at your job.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Make sure you understand the role your applying for and what it entails. If this is something you definitely want to do then I would recommend applying as EY is a great company to work for overall.
