Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

IT support for stores including managing and resolving issues as well as project management to introduce new functionality into stores. This includes speaking to the wider business daily as well as other colleagues in my department to collaborate on support issues or projects as well keeping stores in the loop on what is happening.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy what I do on the programme and enjoy the people I work with. I work very well with my team and the wider business and we know what is expected of each other which makes me enjoy working with them. I also enjoy the company culture as they trust me to know what I am talking about and to get the task at hand completed. It exceeds my expectations before starting the programme.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a wide variety of new skills relating to databases and other IT software. I have also developed my communication skills by speaking to a wide range of people and my presentation skills by presenting information about support cases or projects to a wide audience in my department and from stores.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well in general, I am provided the appropriate time to study as well as my day to day responsibilities. It does get busy with the study schedule though, sometimes I have three modules ongoing at the same time which can get very busy and stressful. Overall, I have the support I need to achieve what I want to though.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive full support from my employer, anything I need from them they are very supportive in providing. Especially my manager which if I need to check something with him or need a bit of extra time for studying when things get busy, the appropriate actions are taken promptly to help with it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have quarterly meetings with my practice tutor to check on how things are going which is a good opportunity to raise any concerns. Otherwise, I am left to work with the materials and work on the relevant assignments. Tutorials are also available if I am struggling with particular parts and tutors have been very helpful if I reach out with any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

General skills I have developed through my qualification such as time management and writing skills have greatly improved my performance in my job role as these are very valuable skills to have for my job role. Also, as with my job role I interact with databases and project management the qualification has helped me to learn skills I can directly apply to my job role's responsibilities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

In my work place we have social events twice a year where everyone in the department gets together for friendly competition. We also play football on Monday's after work and there is plenty of extra activities to get involved in such as marathons and gym training if it interests you.

Why?
Aldi is a very friendly and flexible working envrionment. Aldi is very helpful in working around your needs and allows you to work on the things you want to work on. If something isn't for you, there are many opportunities available to move into something else and there is always new things happening to keep busy.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Be yourself and genuine in the interview process as Aldi hires for the type of person as well as the skills they have. The onboarding process if you are successful in your application is quite slow, but Aldi do not like to throw you in the deep end. They will slowly bed you in which can become frustrating but it is all worth it in the long run.
