Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I joined Aldi in March 2020 as an administration assistant support in accounts payable / receivable in the non-merchandise team. I am responsible for processing invoices of aldi suppliers, reconciling the payables account, accounting for director credit cards, raising sales invoices and chasing debtors. Adhoc duties include opening mail, handling queries both email and phone
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
i like the program a lot. I am on the demand option which allows me to study and learn anytime i want. this is convenient for me since i work full time and can fit my studies around my working hours. The videos are really helpful and being able to watch them as many times as i want has been how i have learnt best.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my accounting knowledge which has enabled me to be able to become better at journaling and understanding the profit and loss accounts. With my gained knowledge this has helped me become more confident when handling queries as i feel like i am able to give the answers to questions which i wasnt able to before.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
the programme is organised well. Once i have passed one unit the next unit is unlocked for me online and the material is sent to me ahead of time. Sometime it was difficult to get quick responses from tutors which has been the only downfall to working solely online rather than attending in person classes.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is very supportive, allowing me to take time out of work to sit exams and to study during down time in the office. They have understood my needs for revision and been supportive during calls with my provider. Without the support of my employer it would not of been as easy for me as it has been taking the time out of work to complete the exams.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have received a lot of physical material that is sent through the post including two work books, an exam book and small study notes. Alongside this, the online platform of videos and exam prep have been great. Each unit has different tutors within the videos which i think has made it more interesting.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
my qualification has helped me massively. I had no accounts knowledge prior to my role and so the qualification has given me a great advantage now im role as i can understand and learn quicker. It has also benefitted when things have gone wrong as i can understand the accounts more and what i need to do to resolve any issues.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
at aldi we do a lot of charity events. This include bake sales, going to quizes, sky dives and more. we also do an annual summer event where the company puts on a huge sports day or something similar and we are split into teams to ensure we network outside of our own teams.

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Aldi is a great employer as they value work life balance. We have flexi time which means we can adjust our hours if needed and also the added value of being able to work from home twice a week. Aldi has a lot of opportunities and is also trying to help you step up in your career
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
