Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is making parts for models, prototypes, aero bucks and interior bucks. These parts tend to be made from aluminium and steel. these may also involve some welding, folding, cutting. Most of the parts are things that are unseen on the car from the outside but are still just as critical
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy my programme alot, from the training to being at work. It has taught me alot. Each day i go into work knowing that im going to learn something new. which makes you want to get out of bed at the early morning. I always come home knowing more than when i left in the morning
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills within the time of my apprenticeship. such as welding, folding on the brake press, using different types of saws to cut the materials to make the parts. as well as developing existing skills like markin gout precise measurements to meet the specification required for the part

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured. there is always easy acces to a member of the early careers team when needed. the employer is in consistent contact with the college so everything is in sync and everyone knows whats going on. this is extremely important as a lack of communication is likely to cause confusion and issues along the line.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The early careers team is always on hand if an issue is needed to be raised. There are many forms of help given by jaguar land rover. such as HR, of which many posters and pieces of information can be seen around JLR sites so there can be no hesitation of how to contact them if needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I recieve alot of help from my training provider. A good source of help is some of the resources that are put on google classroom by warwick college. Another good source of help is the tracker that is updated every time a piece of work is completed. This helps to know exactly where youre at and if anything needs completing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i feel that some of the course is well used within my job role. as we did a full sheet metal and welding course within our first year at the college. These are two things i use everyday at work. so it was important that i had a decent amount of time using the equipment.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

i believe there are many outside of work events and activites to get involved in. such as the employee learning scheme, where each employee is given a set budget to spend on learning a new skill. This ranges from off roading in a land rover vehicle to sky diving etc.

Why?
Its great to work for a huge company like jaguar labd rover. there are many benefits to working here, from the easy acces to help, to the many skills that are to be learnt each day. Theres even so many benefits outside of work due to being a jlr emplyee. such as discounts.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Id advise them to be ready to work hard and to do your best to meet the standards required by a jaguar land rover apprentice. there is no room for error. as long as you meet the required specifications for your role youll reap the many rewards from this job
