My role involves the handling of all forms of delegated authority during the entire delegated authorities life cycle, my main responsibilities lie in DDM (delegated Data Management) which is a system designed to store bordereaux for EEA exposed Bulking lineslips or binding authorities. I am responsible for running reports on the system to find out which bordereaux are overdue for a particular contract and then send out chaser emails to the relevant team members who are responsible for the contract. I am also responsible for the submission of questionnaires (a method of data transference) onto DDM which helps the upload of new contracts to the system.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my role at marsh, so far I have picked up many useful skills as well as developed my workplace etiquette, I also enjoy the role I perform here at marsh and I hope to continue in this field for the foreseeable future, however, so far I haven’t enjoyed my apprenticeship, a lot of the tasks I have completed do not feel like they relate to the industry I work in. on top of that the start of my apprenticeship was delayed massively due to errors at Davies learning solutions, I was delayed by 3 months and therefore feel like I’m very far behind my co-workers who are also on the apprenticeship.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My communication skills have improved drastically since the start of my time at marsh, my skills in communication methods such as email, zoom and teams has drastically improved since my start at marsh. I have also improved my time management and organisational skills. My use of tools such as my email calendar as well as a diary/planner has aided my organisational skills and structure.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Since I have started on my programme, the structure laid out my by apprenticeship coach has been very good, she has laid out a clear path for me to follow and has supported my every step of the way, I have a clear goal with stages in between. However as previously stated I did not start my apprenticeship until 3 months after my colleagues due to poor organisation off Davies, which is obviously not ideal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

my employer has done a phenomenal job of supporting me so far on my apprenticeship course, when we had the issues at the start of the course they did everything in their power to resolve them for me so I could begin my course as soon as possible, once I began my course I was given a morning to myself so I could complete and progress with any work that I needed to do or even to just revise my books.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My apprenticeship coach has provided me with plenty of support when I was put in contact with her, she has laid out what I need to achieve and when by in a clear and concise manor and has also offered support as and when it is needed. Overall my coach has offered me fantastic support whilst completing my course
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As of right now, I do not feel that my course has given me too much additional support or further insight into my role or the insurance industry as a whole, most of my time has been spent learning about outside factors that have no bearing on my role. However, now that I have received my books and have been able to do some of my own revision into the industry I have gained additional knowledge and context into the industry which has furthered my understanding into my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a handful of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at Marsh, I am currently playing in the 5 a side tram for marsh where i can enjoy football with some co-workers. We also have semi frequent team bonding events where we can socialise outside of work and not at our own expense

Why?
Marsh is a welcoming environment for all. I have already recommended Marsh to a friend who has now got a job here, I find that everyone I have encountered so far is happy and willing to help with the smallest of tasks. The facilities are excellent and the company promotes A employee first atmosphere.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marsh McLennan?
I would advise them to focus on the culture and why they believe they could become a positive force at the company, as we at Marsh are very focused on our workplace culture I feel that being a friendly and approachable person is a massive component of what Marsh are looking for in new employees
