Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently in business support so I help assist customers with any of the issues on financial systems, I am also training myself on these systems so I have an overview of all of the ones used in future. Additionally I am completing my course alongside so I spend a full day each week to learn.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme, I like that we move departments each year so that we can see a range of different sections within NatWest and it will help in future when I want to decide what role I want to take on. There are also a lot of apprenticeship activities to get on with and they are great for giving extra time.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot of skills from my time within Natwest, I have learnt a range of different financial and computer systems, I have learnt more effective communication skills and internally how NatWest works as an organisation and how each department links together. I am also completing my qualification alongside
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The induction was very well structured and moving into each department they have different types of training for if they are prepared for an apprentice. I am lucky in each department I have had one person who I speak to directly each week as they help with training. However I will say I wihs there was more structure for each apprentice so they go through the same processes as I think sometimes new teams don't know what to expect.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I haven't really had to use much support but NatWest has so many different types of support available for all employees. You are allocated a mentor throughout the whole 5 years and also a line manager for each role you take on so yo have different levels of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel like RGU are not the best for answering questions and responding to feedback. However they also have lots of different support options available so I feel like if I was struggling I could find some information on there to help me with any issues that I may have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think they relate closely to each other depending on which department you are in. Within my current role it helps me to understand the background of why this is needed and why there are month end risks but in my previous role it gave me an understanding of how each section worked.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is opportunity to have social events and network within different teams, however this could be more well organised and marketted so more people could get involved. They also have a voluntary initiative which anyone can get involved with and there are lots of different opportunities to raise money for charity.

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a great place to work, they have a lot of different opportunities for everyone who works within the bank and they are very supportive to nurture the staff they do have to progress and be able to get further roles within the bank. I also think they support wellbeing and have opportunities on that side too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Inititally make sure you have a strong CV and fully understand the role you are applying for, then if invited for an interview make sure to fully research all about NatWest and show that you have looked into this. They send you out information on how the interview will be structured and the rest of the information is online so there is no reason to go in unprepared.
