Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a scheme manager for a mental health service. I have to manage the service, tenants and staff to ensure we provide high quality care to those we support.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the level 5 course I am doing. It’s a great learning opportunity and will help me in the future when applying for other management roles.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes. I am new to the role so I am learning a lot. I am also learning so much more about being a manager whilst I do this level 5 course

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well. My assessor is extremely helpful and supported and we plan meetings ahead and she assigns me work. If I am ever stuck, she is an email away.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive plenty of support from my employer. If I ever require support for the job it’s self they are very helpful. Also if I am struggling with my mental health, my manager is extremely supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive support from my training provider. We visit every 8 weeks or so. However, if I need help on my level 5 course, she is only an email away.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps me with my management styles. My communication. My motivation. My passion. My drive. It helps me feel more confident in my role and makes me feel good when I learn new things as I am able to bring it into practise.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
None.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lifeways to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The money isn’t the best for the company I work for. But I feel happy in a job for the first time in my life.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifeways?
You need to be in it for the right reasons. You need to have passion for caring and supporting individuals with complex mental illness (SIL) and be ready for different challenges each day. You need to be a team player and enthusiastic about your job.
