Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I'm a first year auditor and it's quite difficult to describe my day-to-day role as I'm not doing the same thing every day. Mostly, I have worked on the execution side of the audit where I'll be using microsoft excel to document the testing procedures carried out on different business areas of the client which we are auditing. For example, I have worked on Payroll, Cost of Sales and Operating Expenses quite often.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
So far the experience has been great and I have met a lot of likeminded individuals who share similar interests to me and I am able to learn a lot from the senior members of the team that I work with. Overall, the community and social aspect of EY is what makes it stand out compared to other firms and I can definitely agree with that.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The skill which I believe I have developed the most during my time at EY is definitely my Excel skills. Before I started the role, I was clueless about how to use any of the shortcuts or even perform functions on excel but now I feel comfortable navigating my way around the app.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a well organised schedule which breaks up the working days and also study days on the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There are many available resources to us specific to our qualification.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Our tutors have said that we can reach out to them at any time in the build up to our exams and even though I have not used this yet, I think it is very helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Most of the courses can be applied directly to the work which we do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a lot of networks within EY which people can join and they all have events which happen throughout the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is the perfect firm to join if you are entering the work of professional services. The people you meet and the atmosphere around the office is very friendly and it is very easy to settle in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
When taking part in the application process be sure to understand the core values of EY and put these to practical use in the assessment centre and final interview to show that you suit EY and would fit into the company. You need to show that you are a flexible person that can work as part of a team but can also be trusted to do the work individually if required.
