Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
My role as a body-in-white apprentice is to shadow maintenance engineers to faults which mainly include resetting robots/tooling occasionally replacing a damaged component and changing welding tips and cleaning glue from the hydraulic presses.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
The work in body-in-white is very repetitive due to it being mostly autonomous, day to day work is generally boring and unique jobs are uncommon.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
I have picked up some skills which include controlling robots, performing manual functions on equipment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Not well organised, during the 1st year our management team were never informed about our work placements leaving them unprepared and on the spot to find us work to do. It has never seemed like any proper plan has been in place for us to rotate through areas and learn new skills. It has generally been up to myself to push for a move to new areas. It has often felt as if we have been left out of communications to do with our future.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Some managers care about helping me with my issues while others are uninterested but generally if I need something there is somebody that I can talk to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I found during the training units at college the tutors were very helpful towards us. During Btec some tutors were great while some were uncooperative.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I feel like the training that we have received has been of little benefit to me in my day to day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I would be open to these sorts of events if offered.
