Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
time was split between assisting associates and trainees on their live work, and attending workshops/conversations with members of the firm in a range of practise areas. As well as this, members of the firm were happy to schedule one-to-one conversations throughout the scheme, allowing for an even greater and deeper insight to be gained in practise areas of personal interest.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
at a law firm, the only role available for someone like myself is that of a trainee. however, within this broad role, it was clear throughout the scheme that trainees have a freedom in Gibson Dunn to pursue their sector and practise interests and are encouraged, and trusted, to take responsibility at every turn.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
yes, absolutely. Analytical, practical, and interpersonal skills were all greatly enhanced by my three weeks on the scheme as I completed tasks, interacted with senior firm members and listened in on client calls.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
the culture was fantastic. a massive attraction. partners were approachable and considerate, wanted to help you develop even on an internship. the majority of those at the firm were also simply welcoming and had common interests to me which made the environment less daunting and more collegiate.
