Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
On the vacation scheme we had the opportunity to meet lots of lawyers at the firm through coffee conversations and then had other tasks to complete from our supervisors. These ranged from research and drafting to preparing for our assessments.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very interesting and enjoyable to learn about the different practice areas at the firm. As a non-law student, I especially enjoyed learning about the arbitration and litigation areas of the firm as I had not been exposed to them before.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes, I learned how to research legal cases properly and how to construct a legal memorandum. Equally, I learned how to produce a professional presentation over Zoom and how to structure a settlement agreement.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was incredibly friendly and I was really impressed by the collegial atmosphere at the firm and how every person I spoke to was interested in my background and me as a person.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP
I would encourage those to research the firm in a lot of detail and work out why the firm is well suited to them specifically. The firm wants to know why you are interested in a career in law working for them so it is important that your justifications are personal and relevant.
