Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I was in charge of different roles such as banking money at the end of a day doing pi counts and serving customers on the counter while also taking phone calls from customers as well which can mean placing orders for delivery i would also deal with any stores that would come into the branch
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I would say i really enjoyed my time doing this program in Travis Perkins as it has taught me alot and has gave me many skills such as better communication skills. i have also enjoyed working with the people i have had the chance to work with which has been good
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to take orders over the phone and put them on for delivery. i was able to pass my forklift course and drive the forklift in the yard at Travis Perkins. i also got my pinser course passed so i can now use the grab forklift. i also can now drive the tool hire van

How well organised/structured is your programme?

i think it has been very well organised in terms of all the calls we have had as well as what we have had to learn in our apprenticeship course. the calls always ran very well and offered a lot of information at the same time. it was always very well planned
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i received a lot of support from my employer, while in branch i was offered time to go into the office and complete the apprenticeship coursework which was a great help. i also received a lot of help from the course superviser [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who always offered me help when i needed it
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

we was offered bmf modules about different products we sell in the Travis perkins branch. such as looking at different timber we sell wether it be untreated timber or normal timber that is kept in doors. we also learned about blocks and bricks using the bmf modules which offered a lot of help
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel it has made me perform much better during work as it has given me the confidence to carry out various job roles in the Travis Perkins business such as working in the office, the yard and also working as a toolhire fitter and driver for the branch queen road
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

While during work we have done different events that involve sports and going out for meals with people who work at Travis Perkins queens road which has helped me build great relationships with people during work and also outside of work which has also made the apprenticeship very good for me

Travis Perkins offers a lot of different opportunity's for everyone which is why i hold the the company in very high regard and i would 100% recommend working at Travis Perkins to anyone who wants a very promising career whether its a apprenticeship or working in the yard, office or maybe even in the office.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins plc?
I would say be very open minded into trying different roles within the Travis Perkins business and make yourself as valuable as possible for the best possible career, as maybe in the future you may want to move to a different store doing a different job role which is very beneficial
