Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Single point access for Hampshire Childrens Therapy service. Supporting the therapists, booking appointments, adding referrals onto the system. Scanning in any supporting documentation for any child we receive correspondence for from other areas of the NHS. Answering the phone and queries from parents, care givers and educational facilities, adding notes onto each childs record
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have really enjoyed the programme so far. The college are really supportive and have helped alot when i have had queries. I found onefile quite hard to use initially as i was learning remotely. I have enjoyed learning again as an adult and taking the time to reflect on the skills i already have which can help to support me

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am very new to the program and so far we have been learning how to set goals and develop skills. I have never been great at writing goals so i feel this has really helped me to teach me how to reflect on my own skills and write realistic goals for what i want to achieve

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised, i have received the full plan for my course from start to finish. All my tasks are set after each workshop so i know how i need to manage my time to complete the tasks set. And my college contact is always available to help when i need her
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very supportive, my line manager has offered to help with any thing i need. She has sent me documentation i have needed and helped me to plan my time for work on the job learning. She is at the end of the phone whenever i need her
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Chichester college have been amazing! I couldnt ask for more support, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] my contact always answers my emails very promptly and offers me direction when i need it. She will praise me when the work is good too which is great to know i am on the right track. I am very happy with the college
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It is making me look at my role in a new light, and helping to me see areas i need to improve on. I can now write a plan for those areas to develop my skills. I thought as an adult learning i wouldnt have much to learn, it has really surprised me
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
No we do not have these activities that i am aware of. I am a part time employee so do not l know if i would have the time for extra curricular activities as i have a young family. It may be something i could explore at a later date

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I really enjoy working here, i like the team i work with and i get on really well with my manager. I have been supported in the desire to push my career further by completing an apprenticeship. I plan to complete higher levels of education now after receiving this level of support
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Read about the Trust and see what they do and how they support the community, it can be a very rewarding career. Be sure you want to help people and you have a kind caring nature and you will enjoy working at Solent. And read up on the Heart values before you interview....
