Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Managing a team of Customer Service Support Assistants to resolve food stores delivery queries by working with other depot departments including warehouse & transport. I lead by example in coaching my team and being on-hand to support them with their learning & development. I carry out one-to-ones and provide constructive feedback to help them develop their skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I really enjoy my programme albeit my work had to be re-assessed after a tutor left Hart and all of their marking came under scrutiny. I did also end up putting more hours in than provided to me in order to provide a higher standard of work, although it wasn’t necessary.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I’ve learnt how to use multiple back office systems only available within a logistics environment. I’ve developed my skills of presenting to & working with others as a result of the scale of operations / colleagues within a distribution centre. I’ve also learnt how to manage better via Core Manager Induction.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It’s very well structured with time sensitive tasks set alongside group learning conferences, in addition to the overall time frame from end-to-end of the apprenticeship. However, I was pleased to discover I was able to take a formal pause upon starting a new role, until ready to return to the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive plenty of support from my employer as they care about personal development as much as the overall commercial success of the business. I feel very fortunate to be given this opportunity within my day job & contracted hours, to build on my personal growth plan and carry our meaningful work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive enough support from my Hart learning tutor upon submitting assignments and / or questions. I had additional support with accommodating a formal pause and then helping me to catch up, particularly after having work re-assessed due to a previous Hart learning tutor leaving mid-way through and over-marking all of their learners work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that the Management qualification helps me perform better because it educates me on models for managing a team that I hadn’t been aware of before. It also provides insight in an engaging way so that I remember what I’ve learnt in order to apply it long afterwards.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We can get involved in colleague networks to support diversity & inclusion, personal growth workshops re careers & coaching, and volunteering/social events (eg gardening club) to keep us motivated at work. These also provide an opportunity to show off your personal brand & USP and network with others at the same time.
