Facilitating the delivery of medical education to both undergraduate and postgraduate doctors, medical students and physician associate students. Providing teaching to Fellows and Physician Associates.
Overseeing and providing Inductions, teaching programmes, study leave approval, e-portfolio support, pastoral support, leadership of medical education team, providing quality assurance to Trust Board, Health Education East of England and other stakeholders.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The course is very enjoyable. The Tutors and support team are available, ready to listen and very instructive as to what is needed to succeed on the course. The networking with Healthcare colleagues across the East of England has been very beneficial - its great to be part of such a committed group of leaders.

The course so far (3 months) has focused mainly on Self-awareness and Management of Self. It has encouraged me to reflect on my own and my team's performance and identify where improvements can be made. I have developed and expanded on the following skills:

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course so far is very well structured with access to slides and reading material all available for each session. We have a named Skills Coach who meets with everyone every 3 months to review progress. They also strongly encourage Line Manager and Mentor engagement and full involvement in the review progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My Line Manager and my Mentor provide full support and encouragement and help me source opportunities to enhance my existing skill and knowledge base. They fully engage with the aspects of the course where I need support from them and are happy to act as a 'critical friend' when it is required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Excellent from our Tutor, offering 1 to 1 tutorials. Skills coach attends our F2F teaching sessions and is contactable otherwise via emails. I feel very supported and able to approach all the support team for help and guidance. I feel that there is a very positive and genuine desire to help and support the students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As I have only been on the course for 3 months (and completed one module so far) it is difficult at this stage to identify specific areas where I can relate what I have learnt to my day to day activities. However, I do feel so far the course has meant that I do think more deeply about my performance, especially around team development and leadership style.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many opportunities on the college campus. However my learning does not happen on site so I cannot attend the many events advertised. However I can join in with the various forums that are available and can participate in the 'live' online learning activities which makes me feel more included. When I am not working I enjoy cooking, reading, history and politics.

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The course itself is very beneficial. As it is an apprenticeship course there is no financial burden on the individual and you get one day a week (in term time) to support your learning. The course is tailored to Healthcare and so is relevant to the student group and allows us to relate our learning to our day-today jobs over time.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
The application process is very simple and straightforward. The onboarding process is automated and is very easy to access and complete together with any mandatory requirements. In terms of more information provided, orientation and explanation of the on-line resources in more depth and how to navigate them would be very helpful.
