Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role, I'm involved in providing technical support alongside other members of the IT Team to all other members of staff which will be either in person or remotely, supporting and working on various projects to support our infrastructure and maintain the day-to-day running of the offices across the UK.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have had a great experience on my course working with various software applications, being able to broaden my understanding of how everything is integrated together for the running of our IT systems and the training courses as has been beneficial both practically and in theory which has greatly increased my overall skillset.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learned much in my role from more experienced members of the IT Team, I have been able to gradually become more independent with carrying out certain aspects of my day-to-day duties which has been beneficial and have improved from the application of the skills I have received from my training courses.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course provides you with a strong foundation for developing your technical understanding and the level of support is outstanding both from my training provider and from my IT Team! Various topics were covered when I was on my training courses so I really feel that that I have learnt a lot.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

The training I have received both in my course and from the IT Team has been invaluable I wouldn't change a thing! The level of support I have received has been a major boost for me so I can perform my day-to-day tasks more and more efficiently thanks for the support I have received.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5

I have gotten much support during the courses my training provider has provided loads of information on which commands are applicable or modified for different CLI (Command Line Interface) on different operating systems and using software tools to simulate configurations of routers and switches using the CLI and the use of hypervisors. Learning about these in my course has greatly improved my understanding when using different software tools.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The course content has greatly been a great asset for my role I have been able to put the practical and theoretical knowledge that I have gained my course into my role on several occasions and I have gained more much knowledge and technical understanding in my role from my course.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are various events to get involved in, I had taken part in the Apprentice & Graduate Challenge which focuses on finding innovative and sustainable solutions for office spaces and how these solutions can be used long term. These events create new ways to think of other sustainable solutions. Recently me and other members of the IT Team has been testing new computing solutions which will support the reduction of carbon footprint.

Why?

TB+A has been outstanding in the level of support and training which has helped me throughout my journey in my course. I have had a great experience but I have also been able to participate in events that have increased my knowledge of the various sustainable solutions that are used at TB+A.
