Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I test peoples hearing and assist in the process of hearing better for people. This also includes rehabilitation, patient care, administrative duties and working closely alongside the ears nose and throat department to help patients with all kinds of medical difficulties and performing diagnostic testing along side this. This is a part of my every day job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The program is very enjoyable. It has allowed me the time To develop my own skills along with helping the department develop different ways of working that could be easier. It is also great to be able to work on the job along side doing the theory work so you have on job experience

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learn new skills everyday. Working will audiologists old and new allows you to gain extra skills not just based on today but based on experience. There is also allowance for training in different areas due to working in close proximity with other departments within the hospital and wider community.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is very well organised and structured. The health and life science department staff are amazing. They allow you to ask questions and feel comfortable in doing this. The work load is also set out pretty well so you don’t get overloaded all in one go and can pace yourself well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is amazing! I couldn’t ask for more support. No matter what I need whether it’s advice on personal for work matters, extra time to study or information they are always around to lend a hand. This is a massive advantage as it makes me feel a lot less stressed during my study time
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university staff are amazing. No matter what we need we can call email or go to visit them and they will help as much as possible. I feel very supported throughout my whole experience and this has allowed me to gain the high marks that I am currently achieving.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It allows me to develop my skills more towards the career path I am
Aiming for. The level of training is high class and allows me to take it back in to the work place to develop further. The training is always focused back on an everyday situation and how we woood work day to day.
