Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My job role is reception. My site works as a 1-1-1 system so when I am on shift I am working alone, my day to day work involves different tasks based on different shifts but mainly helping sort out housekeeping in the morning, deal with guests issues and checking them in and out of the building, I book tables for guests meals in the restaurant and I deal with any issues or complaints anyone in the building has and try resolve these to my best ability. The apprenticeship has helped me do these day to day tasks much better as it has gave me more education on how to do these tasks effectively
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have really enjoyed the apprenticeship so far, it has really helped me understand my job role much more and my lecturer has been amazing. He is extremely helpful and any issues I have had regarding my work he has been understanding especially when it comes to issues popping up regarding work balance and getting my course work submitted for a check up with him.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned new ways to deal with customer complaints and how I can resolve these, my communication skills have definitely become much better as I have been given tips on how to do so and I have been talked through all the different ways I can reply to a guests conversation to provide the best outcome.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say the programme is very well structured. When you start you are given a full lay down of what is expected of you for the course, you are given all details of the course and what each new course work will be and on how to properly write these up and what evidence will be needed for each piece.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer, any help I need is always given to me. My employer has taken my personal development plan extremely serious and has been having shifts with myself working on it and if there are any parts I can’t work on at that time I am told when and why and how we will look into going around this to develop myself
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a lot of support my lecturer is always willing to help if I need him and anything I am struggling with in the course we have a sit down and go over it in more detail to better myself in the course, I have been shown how to reach each target perfect and always told what my next steps are and how o achieve these
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel as if doing this course helps me in my job role as I understand it more and I am learning every day in my job role any way so now I’m scrubbing up on what I know to perfect it. Now I also understand more that I need to know for topics such as communication and how to do this well which is a big one in my job role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Not exactly but I can look into these as fundraising for charity if I need to. We are big on charity in my work place so I use a lot of time looking into new fundraising ideas for all to take part in, as my work place is a hotel a lot of events are based inside the hotel

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company them selves are great, they are very welcoming and genuine to all staff, you do not need a lot of knowledge in the job role to begin with as all training is given from scratch at the start of you working there and there are always opportunities to grow in the company
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
It’s a great place to apply if you have people skills, this company is hospitality so you will be working with the public alot, you are trained on all the systems and how to work in the building but you need to know basic communication skills before hand and you need to be more outgoing to work alongside this company
