Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Auditing financial statements. This can include different FSLIs such as revenue, payroll, accruals, cash, accounts receivable etc. We do testing over this balances to ensure the figures are correct and if they are not we raise any queries with the client. It requires good communication with the client on daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy as it allows me to get the best of studying at university and to experience practical work experience on placement. This allows me to put the theoretical knowledge I have gained during university into practice. For example, modules like accounting and assurance help me on placement a lot.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes. How to work under pressure in order to meet reporting deadlines. I have learnt how to communicate well with the client. I have learnt how to cope with difficulties and I have improved my excel skills a lot. It also requires dedication as well as sometimes hours can be long so it has taught me hard work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is very well structured. The first year is just university which allows you to experience the student life like everyone else. The last three years allow to get practical work experience. All the material is covered from September to December and this is very structured. Revision sessions are held after placement to get you back on track .
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot. There are career coach who help us to set goals and answer any questions we have about working. On clients, we have senior associates and managers who are more experienced who can help us with complex audit testing. We also have socials in our teams which is great.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A lot. The materials are very thorough and detailed and they also provide question banks for the exams which contain past exam questions. This allows us to be well prepared for the exams and ensures we do not feel nervous at all. The website is very helpful also which is good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It allows me to implement the theoretical knowledge into practice on placement. For example, at university we learn about double entries for FSLIs such as Accruals, and on placements this knowledge helps us when on placement as we have a very good understanding of how accruals work based on our university modules.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes. There are socials that take place within teams which allows us to network and get to know team members. There are many networks to join which can be based on hobbies, religion etc. This allows you to meet like minded people and it is a good way to increase networking and make friends.

Lots of support provided by the employer and employees are very friendly and sympathetic. Lots of opportunities to get involved in outside of work via networks.
