Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves coding and fixing changes on the different software systems used within the bank and therefore my team. These changes are tested thoroughly and have numerous processes of authorisation depending category of the change. The current system I am using is called Galileo and this is coded with Java in the IntelliJ IDE.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
My programme is enjoyable as I have learnt a lot so far and feel I am being challenged to the right amount and there is a good support system in place to guide me in my development and help where ever necessary. The programme has quite a bit of choice and preference which adds to the enjoyability.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
The main skill I have learnt and continuing to learn is adapting to working in a professional environment as this is my first professional role. I have also learnt technical skills like how to write out different forms of documentation needed for tasks in my job role and developed my coding skills from coding multiple changes on systems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is well organised as there are many things put in place to help assist and guide me through the programme. I am given enough time to complete all tasks required and even encouraged to take on further learning opportunities if I wish. There are multiple support systems which makes me confident my needs will always be taken care of.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There are multiple support systems and at at various forms and levels provided by my employer and these are very helpful and give me confidence in fulfilling my role and knowing I will be properly supported should anything go wrong or if I encounter any problems. This support is very accessible and regularly offered which is very beneficial.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support given by my training provider is very useful and is set up in a way I feel confident to reach out and ask for any help I may need. I have a Tutor Assessor and he has supported me well so far and the guidance he provides is extremely helpful to helping complete my modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
So far the material I have learnt from my training provider has helped to build a good foundation of knowledge I can build on going into my job role. Looking at the course going forward I can see I would also develop my technical knowledge making me more qualified for my role in future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
The company provide an array of extra-curricular learning activities and opportunities and they are all optional so you choose the ones you like and when you have the free time to do so. I have found these activities very useful so far and have contributed to my development and knowledge for my current and future roles.

Yes
Why?
Mainly because of its great working environment and focus on colleague learning and development which I have benefitted from greatly. There is also a great support system at the company which makes me confident of my development as I am given the required support in all situations I may need.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
My main advice would be to come in willing to learn and develop and also make everyone aware of this throughout the application process. Work out your main strengths and see how this aligns with the company's CPCs and touch on how the company is the right place to help develop your weaker areas.
