Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Managing the day to day running of the hotel. This includes all waste management, ordering of consumables and linen management. Recruitment, developing and training the team. All self assessment audits, health and safety and managing guest experience. All payroll and compliance tasks. Managing all maintenance related issues, escalating to the relevant people where necessary.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my program alot. I feel its incredible beneficial in developing my own skills to enable me to better perform at my job. It's delivered in a way that is both engaging and informative and my learning coach and teacher are both very patient and great at helping me understand the material.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learnt ot about people management, how to effectively train and develop my team. How to create development plans for all of my team and implement them effectively. All about managing change including how to effectively use the ADKAR model and change curve to ensure that it is a smooth and successful transition. And about different management styles and when each style may be effective (or not)

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I feel like it's very well structured. The combined use of e learning modules, online webinars, skills days and sessions with my learning coach all combine together to ensure that I have a great understanding of the material involved. All the modules are structured so that they run together smoothly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I feel like whitbread as a company are fairly supportive of the apprenticeship scheme. They actively encourage team to enroll but I don't feel like they give enough time or training for management to know how to effectively support their learners. As a dhm I struggle to find the time to complete my learning and havnt felt very supported by my management team in completing my modules or employer skill endorsements which has made it very challenging at times
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has been excellent. He's very patient with helping me understand sections that I am struggling with and is always happy to run through any bits that I'm unsure of and reassure me when I'm not feeling confident with what I have written. He's brilliant for helping me reach the conclusions I need to without giving me the answers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel like it helps me perform better in my role as it is teaching me skills that I don't think I would have otherwise learnt. For example learning about different management styles and when to use them and the difference between leadership and management allows me to better understand how to handle different team members or situations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
No there are no extra curricular activities.
