Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I have been carrying out mainly a supporting role over the last 12 months whilst i learn the ropes, however I have now started to take on my own mini projects as I have been learning the theory. I have regular meetings with my team and manager as I am working in a hybrid manner, only being in the office one day a week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme. The culture of the organisation is excellent with my team being extremely supportive, giving me the time required to study and carry out coursework alongside my daily role. My work is challenging whilst still being manageable and I am put out of my comfort zone on a regular basis which is allowing me to grow and learn.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have been learning how to work in an Agile way, and my whole team have been put through internal scrum training. This training has helped me develop my interpersonal skills as the teams are self managed so I am having to work with people at all levels instead in a hierarchical manner.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My first week of induction was great as I had a week long induction from the wider bank in which we were given loads of information about the bank and how it is structured. My course itself is very well structured with enough time in between courses to study and get to grips with the theory. I am also not given tasks that I can't handle based on the theory I have learned.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My team have been extremely supportive. I have had a few issues with my training provider and my colleagues were all helpful in trying to organise a solution. I am able to reach out to any of my colleagues if I have a problem and I know that they would be more than happy to help. They are also keen to learn from me any theory in which I have learned on my course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My advisor is excellent, very helpful and always answers questions if I have it. However I have had issues with communications which can occasionally be slow which is can be frustrating, however I raised this and it has been resolved. I know the routes in how to raise any issues and am happy to do so. They are very accommodating if i have any issues.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Yeah it has helped me understand better the reason that we carry out some of the tasks that we do on a daily basis. For example doing things such as Stakeholder Mapping and Risk sessions make sense now that I understand the theory behind why I do them. I also understand more about the project management practice as a whole.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
This has been a little difficult due to the pandemic but there are more options now that things are back to normal. We have a monthly social on a Friday where the wider team get together for drinks and a meal after work. We also do events for charity - for example we are taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk in a few weeks as a team.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have had a very positive experience working here so far. Everyone has been extremely helpful and understanding of any challenges I have had. It is an extremely inclusive workplace where everyone is free to bring themselves to work without worrying about how they will be perceived. It is a place where everyone's opinion is valid
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Be yourself! The application process can be daunting with so many steps and they get loads of applications so it is important that you stand out. let your personality shine through the application when you are being interviewed. The interview in itself was fairly straightforward with my now boss asking some simple competence based questions.
